On 04 Dec 2009, FIFA and Host City Cape Town welcomed football executives, representatives of the 32 qualifying teams, international media and more than 8000 international and local visitors to experience the Final Draw for the tournament at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.

The Final Draw Event, which was to be aired in 200 countries by more than 100 broadcasters, had football fans around the world glued to their screens as the match order for the qualifying teams is announced. It was be a memorable event in Africa’s first World Cup. The media exposure for this event will only be equalled by the final match of the FIFA 2010 World Cup and was broadcast by more than 100 broadcasters; it is was watched by approximately 1.5-billion people worldwide.

It was under this backdrop that NTB endeavoured to showcase Namibia to the world in a 100% experiential medium. Contemporarily styled, the exhibit took each visitor on a journey through Namibia, with each visitor on a journey through Namibia, affording them the opportunity to appreciate the the authentic beauty that is the land of the brave. Visitors were able to taste Namibia by sampling Namibian meat, an unrivalled variety of game biltong and our internationally acclaimed award winning Windhoek Lager as well as our newly established Camel thorn beer. Music by proudly Namibian artists will provide immense pleasure to African music lovers and the magnificent landscape, people and wildlife photography, coupled with unique, arts and crafts, affords the visitor an opportunity to experience Namibia.

Namibian born Michelle Mclean also joined forces with the Namibia Tourism Board and “kicked off” the festivities with the Gala Dinner on 6th December 2009 with a showcase of the Michelle Mclean Children’s Trust at the expo.

The event was attended by FIFA delegates and hundreds of international media who were attending the international broadcaster’s conference during that time.

Competitions were also run during that time, winners walked away with a 12 day fully sponsored trip to Namibia, a four day trip to Namibia ad kiddies camping hampers!

The “be local” Zip Lines consist of two lines. The first line is a length of 500m suspended approximately 120m in the air from the lowest point. The second line is a length of 400m also suspended approximately 120m in the air from the lowest point. These 2 lines are suspended between two mountain tops on the southern side of Windhoek in the Aus Mountains. This is definitely a thrilling experience!!
